Glossopharyngeal Neuralgia

Three years ago I was diagnosed with Glossopharyngeal Neuralgia (GPN), a rare disorder affecting the 9th cranial nerve, which causes repeated episodes of choking and severe pain in the tongue, throat, ear, and tonsils. The choking and the pain are excruciating and can last from a few seconds to several minutes, or longer. Those afflicted with this devastating disorder risk a shorten life span due for many reasons, just one of which is a high suicide rate. There is no known medical cure or treatment for GPN.

This all started for me several years ago when I went to my family doctor for what he incorrectly diagnosed as a sinus infection. He prescribed steroids, which provided no relief whatsoever. I was then referred to an ENT specialist, who also misdiagnosed my condition. After that, it became a matter of trial and error and elimination of what I didn’t have and what wouldn’t work. I saw a neurologist (who told me I had 4 months to live), a chiropractor (where I did get some relief), and eventually a neuromuscular therapist, who also helped. However, none of them gave me long-term or permanent relief. Fortunately for me, during this time, a friend of mine, Phylana, had discovered Young Living Essential Oils, and shared the story of the Oils with me.

My life changed the day her upline, Myles and Nancy Harston, presented the Living with Everyday Oils information to me. I should mention that just prior to their arrival at Phylana’s house, I had experienced one of my GPN episodes and I was still in a great deal of pain when we started the meeting.

At the onset of the presentation, I was given a glass of water that had several drops of Tangerine Oil in it. After, literally, one drink of water I felt immediate relief in my throat! After two drinks, I had to stop Nancy and Myles to find out what exactly these oils were supposed to do! Their response was, “Why? What are they doing?”- with sheer amazement, I told them that I could feel the pain subsiding. Never had that happened before – nothing had ever made the pain go away!

It’s been right at 4 months since I started using the Oils, and for the first time in several years, I have been virtually pain-free! The Oils have given me back my will to live, they’ve given me back my life!
